Victorian Championship held at State Netball & Hockely Centre in Parkville from 6th to 9th June. I competed at Level 9 U/17. Was placed 3rd Overall in the All Round in Day 1. Apparatus Finals, I won gold medal on Vault, silver on Floor & Pommel and bronze on the Rings & Parallel Bars. Due to palm injuries at Day 1 of the competition, I withdrew from the horizontal bar apparatus finals and battle on competing in the other 5 apparatus.

I competed at the National Championships in Level 8 Open at Sleeman Sports Centre, Chandler, Queensland early July. I won the Australian Level 8 Open All Round Champion Title. Due to my victory, Gymnastics Australia has selected me as one of their gymnast for the 2007 South Africa National Open MAG Tour in Pretoria in October. This is a self-funded event that cost approx. $5200.00. Gymnastics Australia provides funding for the highest level gymnasts to compete internationally at the Olympic Games, the World Championships, World Cups events and other international competitions. Unfortunately funding cannot be provided for National Stream athletes, like myself, to compete internationally hence I need to raise funds by seeking donation. Gymnastics Australia supports this initiative.

Day 2 of the National/Australian Championships - Level 8 Apparatus Finals. My six apparatus video clips have been placed together specially for you. You can view my routines & make comments on how I performed. I was anxious & nervous in trying to perform my gymnastics skills to perfection. I had to overcome my anxiety to compete. Managed to survive all the 6 apparatus routines. At the presentation, I was thrilled when it was announced that 'Kevin James is the National All Round Level 8 Open Champion of 2007'. I was on top of the world & felt very proud of myself.

The National Championships for Level 6 to 9 was held at Sleeman Sports Centre, Chandler, Queensland, from 2nd to 7th July. Day 1, Wed. 4th., representing the State of Victoria, my Team competed in Level 8 Open & won the Bronze Medals. To compete for the National All Round Champion title, I had to perform on all 6 apparatus at Day 1 (Wed 4th) & Day 2 (Fri. 6th.) The 6 apparatus are the floor, pommel, rings, vault, parallel bars & high bar. I was excited & nervous having to compete against the best gymnasts from inter-state. I was placed ranking 1 on the 1st day.

The Victorian Team Officals, other gymnasts & myself travelled to Brisbane on the 30th June for the National Championships. Accommodation & meals were good; top rating. The Chaperones & Team Officials; manager, coaches & judges, were supportive, always smiling & keeping everyone's spirits througthout our stay. They hired mini buses to get myself & other gymnasts to the venue which was about 30 mins. drive. I had a couple of training sessions before my compeitition day. Training was okay. I was not so nervous competing on the 1st day of my comp.
